International Exchange Program Call for Applicants, 2024–25

The MultiNet Fellows Exchange Program is open to early career scholars in the area of multilayer networks to travel between the US and another country, so please share this opportunity with those colleagues in your network who either attend a US-based institution and would like to travel internationally or attend an international institution and would like to travel to the US. Exchanges can run from two weeks to one semester, and program awardees will receive travel and living stipends.

Applications for the current academic year are considered on a rolling basis. For the 2024-25 academic year, the priority deadline for our short intake application is March 15, 2024. Applications submitted after that date will be considered on a rolling basis. If you are considering applying, please watch this informational, Q&A style webinar from February 15, 2024 with some of our current Fellows and PIs, who will discuss the program and how it can work for you.

Program details

The exchange offers you the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with new colleagues, initiate new connections between researchers across institutions, and join a growing network of young leaders in this field. Additionally, the research you conduct during the exchange will contribute to advancing our understanding of multilayer networks. The goal of the NSF-funded AccelNet program is to accelerate international research collaborations.

Postdoctoral scholars and early-career researchers may travel to any accredited university or research institution with sufficient network science research faculty to support them, while advanced graduate students will be restricted to certain institutions (see full program announcement for details).

You can choose from the leaders and partners listed on our website that you would like to join, or identify others in your application.

As part of the exchange, you will be expected to be an active and visible part of our community and participate in regular collaborative activities, such as monthly meetings and webinars and program-specific training.

If you are selected, you will be asked to craft a personalized research plan in conjunction with mentors and collaborators from each institution to explain your research agenda and goals.
